Winton M. Hill III
Reverend Hill has been serving as the interim pastor at Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church since September 10, 2023. With his leadership, the congregation has experienced a period of spiritual growth and community engagement. Reverend Hill's dedication to fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere has brought renewed vitality to the church, making it a place of inspiration and support for its members. His commitment to the congregation's well-being and spiritual development has made him a valued leader in the Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church community.
My Story
The Reverend Winton M. Hill III was born December 29, 1947, in Creswell, North Carolina. He was raised in Newark, New Jersey. He joined Israel Memorial AME Church at an early age and was called to preach at the age of 17 under the guidance of Reverend B. C. Burton.

He is a graduate of Wilberforce University B.A. and Payne Theological Seminary M.Div. Reverend Hill has pastored congregations in the Third and First Episcopal Districts of the AME Church; Served as Chaplain in the USAR; During Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, was responsible for 7,000 military personnel’s religious life and the care of religious needs of 200,000 enemy prisoners of war; awarded the Army Achievement Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. He also served as a VA Hospital Chaplain for six years.

While Pastor of Bethel Church in Stamford, Connecticut, he served on the Board of Directors for the Community Action Agency, The United Way, and provided leadership serving on the Police Commission and the Multi-Cultural Council. In 2003 he was recognized as Volunteer of the Year; in 2004 as “Citizen of the Year.” He has served as Presiding Elder of the New Brunswick, Philadelphia, and Dover Districts; He recently retired as Presiding Elder of the Newark District in New Jersey.
Reverend Hill is a former board member of Payne Theological Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio, First State Community Action, and the United Way Board in Delaware. He is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity.

Reverend Hill is married to Janis B. Hill, and they have five children and eight promising grandchildren.
